To be a good tutor in my opinion means to be sensitive to needs of the students, both academically and emotionally and in doing so the construction of appropriate goals and plans to enable them to achieve their potential. While we may not start on a leveled field in this life, however, motivation, hard work and foremost the right teacher or tutor can go a long way in helping students reaching their goals in life. As a tutor, my educational experience includes a bachelor degree in Biochemistry from UCLA and a master degree in Clinical Psychology from Biola University. My tutoring experience working with students from K-12, as well as those in college and graduate school in the Los Angeles area has allowed me the unique opportunity to apply aptitudes obtained in both academia and clinical work. While providing academic assistance, I was sensitive to students' struggles, such as feeling discouraged, having low self-esteem, being bullied at school and other challenges. I developed individual learning plans addressing both overt academic challenges and hidden dynamic in the students' struggles by allowing them to choose works of literature they enjoyed from approved resources. By identifying the conflicts the characters faced while contrasting the motives and the psychological struggles the characters must resolve, the students developed meaningful connection with the characters while acquiring a deeper understanding of their own dilemmas, and a genuine appreciation of the value of education, resulting in improved academic performances. These encounters provided me with vivid opportunities observing the crucial role emotion plays between attention, perception and motivation in achieving academic success. In essence, these experiences have enhanced my teaching skills.

Phoebe has gone well above my expectations of what I expected from a tutor. She has not only helped raise my daughter's grades, but her self-esteem has improved as well. She reviews the material she went over with my daughter on a continual basis and keeps in close contact with me regarding her progress. I am extremely happy with Phoebe's instruction and work ethic.
