Personal Statement
It is great to see a student realize that they are a lot smarter than they may have originally believed. My interdisciplinary background can be quite helpful as I am knowledgeable in most subject areas. I have taken college level Calculus, Physics, Chemistry, and have been extremely successful in the Humanities. My specialty is writing - but I love all subjects. (However, I can not draw for the life of me - But I can teach guitar!)
Tutoring Approach/Experience
Secondly, I recognize the importance in understanding that each individual has their own learning strategies, as well as their unique strengths of intelligence. I identify those strengths and develop creative methods; techniques that are designed to build off a student’s natural skill set in a way that can be effectively applied towards more difficult areas of learning. (When DaVinci was asked how he was so talented at science, math and art, he replied something to the effect that he brings his artistic understanding to science and scientific abilities to his art - it's all connected.)
Next, I emphasize the process of learning over the acquiring of correct answers. My believe is that when a student works on the quality of their approach toward their academic studies, the results necessarily shine through as improvements in their overall scores.
Finally, I throw my ego out the door. Students can expect to be meeting with an equal - another human being. I can set my mind to understand where they are coming from so that we can learn together; from one and another.

I feel Kevin is doing a great job with my son. My son is very shy and Kevin works well with him. My son looks forward to his session. I highly recommend Kevin Hall. He tutored my 10th grade daughter on an essay writing project and she had a great experience. He is skilled and knowledgeable, and tutors with an easy-going style He was very perceptive in his assessment of how she writes and communicated with me throughout the project. Besides teaching her new skills and strategies, he was great at connecting and getting across the concepts so she really understood them.
My daughter felt empowered by the process, the essay remained her own, but was so much better than it would have been without Kevin's skilled and gentle raising of the bar. He worked closely with her to define and clarify her thoughts and on how to organize and include specific information to make her writing clearer and easier to understand. The end result was a remarkably strong, clear essay . My daughter gained much from Kevin's help in just a few sessions, improving in both organization and mechanics.
